    What is Rotel ?

  2. Mary Ellen says:

    Same question-what is Rotel?

  3. Amy Derrick says:

Rotel is a brand of canned diced tomatoes that contain diced chilies. Found in most grocery stores.

  4. Cyd says:

Rotel is a brand of diced tomatoes. Any brand will work fine.

  5. Carole says:

This was great! As my husband says, "this is a keeper!"

  6. Terry says:

I don't see tomatoes in the picture, do they cook down?

  7. Elyse says:

Hi Terry! They are pretty small and I must not have got any in this shot! You could omit them if you don't like them, but we prefer it with the Rotel!

  8. Kathy says:

Has anyone tried this as a "freezer meal"? If so, how did you like it?

  9. Rae says:

Just want to double check... 1 cup cheddar cheese = 1 cup SHREDDED cheddar cheese. Right? Also... Is it the Rotel with the green chiles or just the tomatos?

  10. Cyd says:

No, do not add water to the soup.

  11. Cheryl says:

    Does this freeze well?

  12. Cyd says:

It should freeze fine in an airtight container.

  13. Kristin says:

What kind of French onion dip did you use.

  14. Hannah says:

Can you make this with regular pasta? If so, what kind? Thanks.

  15. Tisha says:

What kind of French Onion Dip did you use?

  16. Cyd says:

We have used Dean's French Onion Dip and Kraft brand.

  17. Lisa says:

This was delicious, I made as directed and added the Rotel, mild with green chiles, it gave it a nice added flavor. Will definitely make it again.

  18. Cori says:

For the French Dip, is it the powder or in liquid form?

  19. Cyd says:

I guess you could say it's a solid. You can find it bottled on the store shelf. (Lay's French onion dip on the chip aisle.) It's also in the refrigerated section by the dips.

  20. Christi Brooks says:

Did you boil the chicken or pan sear it or does it matter?

  21. Christi says:

OMG this makes a LOT!! It barely fit in my 9x13 pan. For a family of 4 I’d say half everything!

  22. Cyd says:

We boiled our chicken and then diced it up ahead of time.

  23. Cale Palmer says:

Has anyone figured out calories in this?

  24. Boots Lina says:

This is delish! Love it! Will definitely cook,it again!

  25. LeeseMaster says:

This was SO simple and delicious! This is the second recipe that I have tried of yours. Both times I thought the recipe seemed too simple but BOTH times proved me wrong. I love this!!!!

  26. Kate says:

Do you add the pasta first and pour soup mixture on top, or do you mix everything together and then add to the baking dish? Did I somehow miss a step?

  27. Cyd says:

It's in the directions. Cook the egg noodles and set aside. Then in a large mixing bowl, combine chicken, soup, onion dip, diced tomatoes and cheese. Then fold in the egg noodles that you set aside earlier. And then add all to the prepared pan. Hope this helps.

  28. Jessica Neff says:

I keep looking back at the recipe wondering if I did something wrong but its all exactly as I did. This recipe was terrible. The dip with the Rotel, and cream of chicken is gross. Not one single person in my family would eat this. We eat all of the items that are in this recipe but I wouldn't recommend putting them together.

  29. Betsy says:

Do you really mean to use 7 (seven) chicken breasts? That seems like a lot.Thank you

  30. Cyd says:

Thanks for catching that. It should be more like 4-5 depending on their size.

  31. barbara auten says:

be careful as rotel comes with peppers not terribly spicy depending on how much u use if u don't like spicy (meaning hot spicy) get the can without the peppers.

  32. Kare says:

Hello what is a jar of French onion dip? Is it a glass jar of the dip you dip potato chips in?

  33. Momma Cyd says:

Yes, you can buy it in the jar, or in the deli section and it comes in a carton that looks like a cottage cheese container.

  34. Heather says:

    The whole family loved this!

  35. Kathy C says:

This sounds delicious but it's just my husband and at home. Have you tried freezing this? Our would the sour cream in the dip cause issues when separated?

French Onion Chicken Noodle Casserole Recipe (12)

  36. Momma Cyd says:

You could easily cut the recipe in half and make it in an 8x8 inch pan, or you could make the full recipe and freeze the leftovers in portion sizes for the two of you.
